NEW YORK CITY—Olshan Frome Wolosky is taking a new approach to office space as the law firm relocates west from the Plaza District. The 53,100-square-foot headquarters lease at the Paramount Group's 1325 Ave. of the Americas will take a “one size fits all” approach that will accommodate future growth.
“Olshan was in search of a space that would allow it to grow,” says Robert Yaffa, executive managing director at DTZ, who represented the law firm with colleague Wayne Van Aken. At 1325 Sixth Ave., Yaffa adds, “the firm will create a trend-setting, creative and efficient workplace—outside of typical law firm layouts.” It will relocate from the Blackstone Group's Park Avenue Tower at 65 E. 55th St.
With its relocation, says Yaffa, the law firm will be “at the forefront of a forward-thinking design strategy, as its new office space will follow a 'one-size-fits-all' model where, whether you are a partner or associate, each office will be the same size. This is a concept that many law firms are exploring but not executing.”
Nina Roket, co-administrative partner at Olshan, saw the firm's 1325 Sixth space will represent “a new law firm office model that's efficient, innovative and collegial and reflects the spirit of creativity and collaboration at Olshan. We carefully weighed many factors in making a decision, and this space highlights our commitment to long term growth and our expanding client base in key areas,” including corporate and real estate.
Along with the standardized office model, Yaffa says that Olshan will be providing amenities such as a lounge, attorney caucus rooms and conference center for its employees. “This will certainly continue to reflect the firm's commitment to fostering an interactive and collaborative atmosphere.”
The 15-year deal for Olshan entails all of the space on the 15th and 16th floors at 1325 Sixth, along with 3,422 square feet of space in the concourse level for storage. Doug Neye of JLL negotiated on behalf of the property's ownership.
