WASHINGTON, DC—Josh Peyton has been tapped to be Avison Young's managing director of the company's Washington, DC region. He is replacing Keith Lipton, who spent six years in the role and is moving on to become Avison Young's COO for the US.

Peyton will manage the day-to-day operations of the company's Washington, DC, Tysons Corner, VA and Suburban Maryland offices.

Peyton joined the Washington, DC office in March 2010 as a principal. Prior to joining Avison Young, he was a senior vice-president with Grubb & Ellis Co..

Peyton started his commercial real estate career in 2002 as a tenant rep at Transwestern. He joined Grubb & Ellis in 2006.

Avison Young opened its first Washington, DC office in November 2009 with three employees. Since that time, the firm has acquired Appian Realty Advisors, Millennium Realty Advisors, Realty Management Co. and McShea & Co., in the region, and opened additional offices in Tysons Corner, VA and Suburban Maryland. The company now has a total of 250 employees in its local offices.
