BALTIMORE—The Maryland Aviation Administration has awarded Philadelphia-based Hill International a six-year construction management contract for various projects at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Martin State Airport.
The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract has an estimated value of $8 million, according to Hill International.
On March 4 this year, the Maryland Board of Public Works unanimously approved a construction procurement for Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport that will lead to the major D/E Connector Program that will support additional international service at BWI Marshall. The project will create a new security checkpoint to serve domestic and international travelers, construct a new secure connector between Concourse D and Concourse E, and configure airline gates to support additional international flights. The main construction package for the D/E Connector Program is a $105-million contract awarded to the Whiting-Turner Contracting Co.
Last month, BWI Marshall Airport announced it was requesting proposals from qualified firms for the design, development, financing, construction, and operation of a full-service hotel that offers direct access to the airport terminal.
The airport is seeking a nationally-branded or independent first-class hotel that would connect to the terminal building and that would offer between 200 and 250 guest rooms. The hotel site is located adjacent to the BWI Marshall Airport Hourly Garage on approximately 2.5 acres of developeable land. The hotel would replace the nearby Four Points by Sheraton BWI Airport hotel, which closed in late 2013.
