TOMBALL, TX—The first tract of land within the Tomball Business and Technology Park has traded, with Packers Plus Energy Services acquiring 17.4 acres. The Canada-based oil and gas service company will consolidate its Houston-area operations to the park at the intersection of Holderrieth Boulevard and Hufsmith-Kohrville Road in Tomball. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Packers Plus' $21-million project will be built in phases. When completed, it will consist of a 50,000-square-foot research and development center, a 237,000-square-foot manufacturing building and a multi-story, 40,000-square-foot corporate office building. It's expected to create 353 new jobs within Tomball, including employees who relocate from Houston, with 172 of those jobs in the first five years of operation.

Tom Condon Jr., SVP in the Woodlands office of Colliers International, represented the Tomball Economic Development Corp., which sold the tract to Packers Plus. Brandi McDonald with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented the buyer, and Jane Matthews with Stewart Title's Tomball office coordinated the closing.

Groundbreaking for the 120-acre Tomball Business and Technology Park took place this past May. Of that total, 85 acres including the Packers Plus site will be available for development.

“The company has been in the US for eight years and has grown dramatically over that period of time,” Kelly Violette, executive director of the Tomball EDC, told Community Impact Newspaper in April, when Packers Plus went under contract to acquire the parcel. “Given the anticipated future growth of the company, Packers Plus desires to relocate its Houston-based operations to a single campus location.”
