SAN DIEGO—The name Pacific Gate has been chosen for Bosa Development's design-focused, Downtown waterfront 41-story residential project. The luxury high-rise will be located at the “front porch” of Downtown, capitalizing on the urbanism trend.
Bosa recently asked the San Diego community and others nationwide to name its newest Downtown San Diego building at Pacific and Broadway. The winning name was submitted by Kevin Flanagan, who has lived in San Diego for more than 30 years. Bosa's team, including Nat Bosa, chose the name for several reasons, primarily based on overall impact and appropriateness to subject matter.
According to Nat Bosa, “We feel Pacific gate represents our vision for the building, being a symbol for the city's future, punctuating the skyline with its iconic architecture and leading the ambitious movement toward an even more dynamic Downtown.”
Bosa adds that the building also represents both figuratively and literally a “gateway.” “It will user in a new era to Downtown's corridor on Broadway, where the ocean and land meet. It's convenient for San Diegans, whether coming for work or the next Padres game, and international visitors, whether coming by sea, air or train. The harbor and just-completed waterfront park, as well as the enlargement and beautification of the North Embarcadero, make this a hub of activity.”
New York-based architect Kohn Pedersen Fox designed the oval-glass residential tower that makes up Pacific Gate and that will “redefine the San Diego skyline,” according to Bosa. “Pacific Gate has all the components of a super-prime building, which are within or are the best in their market and hold up to international standard of one-of a-kind design and first-class services. We are excited to unveil its name, and shortly, more details about this visionary project.”
As Bosa's director of sales and marketing Bemi Jauhal told GlobeSt.com exclusively in May, “Downtown San Diego offers waterfront real estate, exceptional restaurants and entertainment and a truly unbeatable quality of life. The ocean views and modern skyline constitute urban waterfront living at its finest. San Diego also plays host to a diverse group of industries, from high-tech start-ups and business accelerations to hosting international and national conventions, professional sports teams and cultural opportunities like a night out at the opera.”
