WASHINGTON, DC—The JBG Cos. has picked Balfour Beatty Construction as the construction manager for its 13|U mixed-use project in the Shaw. It is an area with which the construction provider is becoming quite familiar.

13|U, which broke ground earlier this month, will include 129 residential units, 15,750 square feet of retail and 48 below-grade parking spaces near the U Street/Cardozo Metro station. Balfour Beatty began demolition of the existing building in June.

This is Balfour Beatty's fourth building for JBG in the U Street Corridor. It recently completed The Hatton and The Shay mixed-use developments, and delivered The Louis at 14th and U in 2014.
