SENTEL Corp. Leases at Akridge-Long Wharf Building

ALEXANDRIA, VA—SENTEL Corp. has inked a seven-year lease at 2800 Eisenhower Ave. here totaling nearly 31,000 square feet.

The 30,599-square-foot lease deal will begin in February 2016, according to brokerage firm DTZ.

According to the SENTEL Corp. website, the company's corporate headquarters is located at 1101 King St. in Alexandria, The company also maintains offices in Bowie, MD, Dahlgren, VA, Richmond, VA, San Diego, CA, and Vicksburg, MS.

DTZ senior managing director Chris Sowick, vice president Krysta Herring and associate Phil Brannigan represented the co-owners, Akridge and Long Wharf Real Estate Partners. Brian Cass from Akridge and John Schonborn and Sean Weiss from Long Wharf Real Estate Partners were involved on the landlord side. Marc Balamaci of EDGE Commercial Real Estate represented SENTEL in the transaction.

The Akridge-Long Wharf partnership has recently completed extensive renovations to the building's main entrance, lobby, the garage entry lobby and all of the restrooms. Additionally, the building now offers an express cafe, and will deliver a new conference center and spec suites this summer.

Akridge partnered with Long Wharf Real Estate Partners to reacquire 2800 Eisenhower Ave. in 2014. The four-story, 116,000 square foot building is located in the heart of the vibrant Carlyle/Eisenhower submarket of Alexandria and is part of the Alexandria Tech Center development.

This is the second time that Akridge has owned the building. Akridge originally purchased the building in 1996 completely vacant. With a full renovation, the building was successfully pre-leased to the Eastern Group, who occupied nearly all of the building, and was then sold in 1998. 2800 Eisenhower was built in 1987.
