WASHINGTON, DC—New York City-based law firm Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP will relocate its DC offices to the 10th and 11th floors of 1401 New York Ave., where it will be the office property's anchor tenant.
The law firm currently occuppies space at 5301 Washington Ave. NW that is on several non-contiguous floors due in part to its recent expansion -- Boise, Schiller has lured several attorneys from senior positions in the White House and Capitol Hill to join the law firm. It currently employs 57 Washington-based lawyers, plus staff, and the firm expects it will continue to grow.
The law firm's new space at the New York Avenue property totals 37,000 square feet.
Owned by Minshall Stewart, 1401 New York Ave., is undergoing a renovation that is expected to deliver in 2016. Designed by architect J.P. Spickler, the renovations will include a glass curtain facade and 3,300 square feet of outdoor space with views of the White House, which is just half a block away. It is being designed for LEED Gold certification. The 12-story 210,897-square-foot office building was built in 1983 and includes 168 underground parking spaces.
"We intend to have a very contemporary, efficient design that will create an open and airy feel, with a lot of natural light, and a layout that will bring us closer together in a more collaborative environment as we prepare to represent our clients in trial and before various federal agencies," says Boies, Schiller & Flexner partner Michael Brille in a prepared statement.
