MIAMI—At Douglas Elliman, they lost one and gained one. Power broker Horacio LeDon, president of Douglas Elliman Development Marketing for Florida and California, has resigned. Meanwhile, real estate powerhouse Eloy Carmenate has joined the firm as executive director.

LeDon, known for a 13-year career selling billions of dollars in new development deals in New York, Miami and LA, said he's pursuing his own development opportunities. Still, he will remain licensed as a real estate broker with Douglas in the New York, California and Florida offices.

“I am lucky to have been given the opportunity to work with Susan de França, who has been a game changer for Douglas Elliman,” LeDon says. "I was surrounded by such a talented group of development professionals who I trusted implicitly with overseeing the portfolio of projects both in Florida and California."

Since joining Douglas in 2013, LeDon spearheaded all projects in Florida and then California when the company was selected to exclusively handle the sales and marketing for Metropolis Los Angeles. While overseeing the new development category in Florida, LeDon helped grow the portfolio from $500 million to over $5 billion dollars.

For his part, Carmenate is ranked in the top 1% of producers in the US, number seven in Miami, and was recently announced by The Wall Street Journal as number 81 of the top 1,000 agents nationally. He will work as a close liaison between developers and lead the in-house sales team for luxury pre-construction buildings.

Carmenate brings over 20 years of residential and development experience to Douglas. He has been named as the sales director of Eighty Seven Park, the new Terra project with co-developer partners Bizzi and New Valley. Carmenate's philosophy is to provide nothing short of VIP treatment every step of the way.

“We are thrilled to welcome such a remarkable agent to the Douglas Elliman team,” says Jay Phillip Parker, CEO of Douglas' Florida brokerage. “Carmenate is highly regarded both regionally and nationally as a poised and driven real estate agent serving elite luxury clientele. He continuously defies expectations in all that he does and we look forward to supporting his future success.”

Before joining Douglas, Carmenate was the number three sales agent at Sotheby's International where he served as executive vice president for six years.  In this position, he assisted the Towers and Mixed Use Properties Initiative at ONE Sotheby's International Realty.

Previously he served as vice president of Constructa and consulted for some of the top development firms around the globe.  Carmenate has had several record-setting sales including the Penthouse at the Setai, which he sold for $20 million.

Through this sale, Carmenate set a new precedent in the region being the first agent in Florida to sell a condo at that price point. Other notable sales include over $100 million at Glass, an 18-story residential tower where he served as the exclusive sales agent and the penthouse condo at 1500 Ocean Drive that is now listed for $19.5 million.
