Swire Brings in Hong Kong Heavyweight

MIAMI—Swire Properties just appointed Clare Laverty assistant vice president of marketing and public relations for Swire and Brickell City Centre. She'll dive deep on trumpeting the landmark $1.05 billion mixed-use project, which on schedule for completion beginning end of 2015.

“Clare joins the South Florida team at an integral time as Brickell City Centre nears its completion,” says Stephen Owens, president of Swire. “Her comprehensive understanding of global branding and communications will be invaluable as we prepare to unveil this landmark project on an international scale.”

Laverty is no stranger to Swire. She's also the director of marketing for Swire Hotels, a division of Swire Properties Ltd. Laverty relocated from Hong Kong to South Florida to oversee the overall marketing, public relations, and advertising strategies for the company.

"Miami is an international gateway city that has found its urban nature with the unfolding of the city as an important art, fashion, cultural, tourist and business destination," Laverty tells GlobeSt.com. "The city's density can be seen and its energy felt in its core, the downtown Brickell district where people are active 24 hours a day. Our current Miami project, Brickell City Centre, is a testament to Miami's growing urban evolution."

This promotion means Laverty will wear two hats as she continues her role as director of marketing for Swire Hotels, where she oversees global marketing for the company's Asian and US hotels and restaurants. In fact, the company expects her to play a key role in launching Swire Hotel's first US property, the EAST, Miami Hotel, which is set to open winter 2015.

EAST, Miami Hotel will be the third hotel under the EAST brand. Swire also opened EAST, Hong Kong in Island East in 2010 and EAST, Beijing at INDIGO, Beijing in 2013.

Laverty brings over 13 years of brand communications, marketing and advertising experience in the media and communications industries to Swire.  Before joining Swire Hotels in 2007, Laverty held advertising positions at RKCR/Y&R and Lowe London in the U.K.
