LOS ANGELES—Newmark Grubb Knight Frank has hired industry veteran Lynn Kious as senior managing director in the firm's Downtown Los Angeles office. Kious has 25 years of industry experience as a global leader in corporate and commercial real estate. Making the transition from the corporate and client services sectors, Kious will focus on tenant representation to help guide clients.
“I came from the corporate side of the business. I spent my entire career in commercial and corporate real estate, and about half of it has been on the corporate side and the other half of my career has been as a service provider to those clients,” Kious tells GlobeSt.com about her reason for joining the firm. “I took a step back and decided that what I like doing best is working with clients, and working with teams and seeing the real estate strategies come together into deals, transactions and new workplaces. Newmark really has the formula. They have a strong global organization, a strong presence in all of the major cities and strong financial backing. For me, those are the ingredients for success because you know you'll be able to meet all of your clients needs. That was really important to me.”
Kious formerly served as the VP and general manager of global real estate and workplace services for the Americas at Johnson Controls Inc. In the position, she was responsible for all real estate accounts and all corporate real estate lines of business. In her lofty career, however, her experience is boundless. She has served as VP of global real estate for the Walt Disney Co. and senior managing director for CBRE/Trammel Crow before beginning her career as a real estate broker in Downtown Los Angeles.
Kious plans to leverage her experience to serve her clients better. “I will be focusing in the Southern California and Western US. My goal is to help the clients that have needs in that area solve their needs,” she says. While, she has only just started the new position, she is in the midst of drafting personal goals for success, which will no doubt continue to earn her awards in addition to those she has already landed, including 25 Most Powerful Real Estate Women, a Southern California Woman of Influence and CoreNet Global's Corporate Real Estate Executive of the Year.
Earlier this year, NGKF expanded its Southern California office with the addition of five new leaders. The new hires included Chris Strickfaden and Eric Adams will serve as senior managing directors in the South Bay office; Jen Fairfield will serve as managing director in the Downtown Los Angeles office and John Carrick and Robert Lindner will serve as senior managing directors in the West Los Angeles office.
