WEST COVINA, CA—High-end technology is officially making its way into rental multifamily units. In an earlier story, GlobeSt.com reported that Lennar Multifamily Communities has completed construction of the Colony at the Lakes—West Covina's first multifamily development in 30 years. The 450-unit property will feature Lutron Dream Suite technology in select suites that will allow residents to control shades, thermostat functions and lighting through an app on a mobile phone.
“We have co-branded this with Lutron as a Lennar Dream Suite. This is something totally new to the marketplace,” Tina West, VP of property operations at Lennar Multifamily Communities, tells GlobeSt.com. The high-tech features illustrate the quality and luxury of the development, which features a considerable amenity package and high-end interior finishes. “The property has the most uber luxury finishes that an apartment can command with an amenity resort package.”
The app-powered technology isn't exclusive to the suites. The property also has an app that allows residents to book private offices in the property's co-working offices onsite. “We have a great environment for our residents to book a private office from an app that was proprietary and designed for Lennar. You can book your private office space, and literally walk from your apartment to your office space. It is a true office space with high-tech and high-speed functionality,” says West. There are a total of 10 co-working spaces equipped with the latest business technology and connectivity.
Although Lennar won't begin preleasing efforts for a few more weeks, the developer has begun to market the property and accept queries. In just a few weeks, 800 potential residents requested additional leasing information. “We have brought the best amenity package based on renter feedback, and we have built to what the resident needs are,” explains West. “The apartment industry has been building a lot of the same things and a lot of those amenities are under-utilized.”
