LOS ANGELES—Crowdfunding platform AssetAvenue has hired tech veteran Douglas Sellers as its chief technology officer. Sellers brings 15 years of experience to the firm, and has previously served as the CTO of Kumu Wellness and Good Worldwide. In this new role, he will lead all of the technology initiatives for the company and will develop a strategy to launch new products.
“This is a gigantic opportunity in my mind. I am really looking for company's that have a very high ceiling, and I think AssetAvenue is definitely in that sphere. The company is in a portion of the economy that hasn't been influenced by start-ups and technology yet,” Sellers tells GlobeSt.com. “I feel like there is a lot of potential to make some really interesting technology and some really interesting changes within the technology. Additionally, I am really suited for the size of this company. I am really good at taking series-A companies and scaling them to going into series B and C and beyond. I am really excited to be getting involved in this industry.”
Sellers joins the company from mobile wellness coach Kumu Wellness, where he served as CTO. His lofty resume includes co-founding Redline.cc, a bug tracker that was acquired by Usersnap, and serving as the CTO of Good Worldwide, an online social network for advancing social causes. Sellers also has tremendous experience working at start-ups and in high-pressure environments, making him a welcome fit for the rapidly growing crowdfunding industry.
According to the company's CEO David Manshoory, Sellers is “arriving at a crucial time in the company's growth,” and Sellers says that he is ready for the challenge, with aggressive plans to scale the company in the near future. “We are a technology company, and we want to continue to be a technology company,” he comments. “I want to imbibe the entire organization with that culture and that mentality. I want to help scale the team, the processes and the product thinking to really go for it over the next one-and-a-half to three years.”
