BETHESDA, MD—JLL has recruited Timothy Marvin to join its Hotels & Hospitality Group.

Marvin's title will be executive vice president and he will report to JLL's Hotels & Hospitality Americas CEO Arthur Adler. He will also be the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region lead for strategic advisory services and assist the national advisory team. In that capacity he will work under the direction of Managing Director Greg Hartmann.

Prior to joining JLL, Marvin was managing director of Americas Investments for Host Hotels & Resorts. Before that, he was senior vice president of Development at Marriott International.

The hotel sector, both nationally and locally, has been quite active recently, making JLL's move to deepen its talent bench in this sector very timely.

The DC area's hotel sector seems to have awakened from its long period of slumber with a number of interesting deals -- both acquisition and development -- closing in recent months.

Nationally -- although technically this was a local deal as well -- there is Marriott International's recently-announced $12.2 billion acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts. That transaction is likely to be a harbinger of further consolidation in the lodging sector, according to Fitch Ratings.
