LOS ANGELES—Metropolis is complete, well at least the first residential tower. Greenland USA celebrated the "topping off" of the project's first residential tower yesterday, marking a milestone for the $1 billion Downtown Los Angeles mixed-use development. AECOM, Webcor and Gensler joined the developer and 500 construction workers in celebrating the placement of the final steel beam at the sight.
"The top-off event is a celebration of the incredible progress we have made at Metropolis, especially in such a short amount of time," Tami Scully, VP of sales and marketing for Metropolis at Greenland USA, tells GlobeSt.com. "As our vision becomes a reality, I'm looking forward to helping more homebuyers see Metropolis as a property that fits their lifestyle and their dreams, and that they'll make it their home."
The first residential tower is 38 stories tall and has 300 condo units. It is one of three residential towers at the project. Sales for the second tower were launched in October, boosting condo pricing in the Downtown market dramatically, and construction on the third tower is still underway. Prices for the individual units range from $570,000 to $2 million.
