COLUMBUS—Columbus officials have said that the city's Scioto Greenways project, which will create more parkland and recreation options along the Scioto River downtown, will attract office users to the waterfront.
And last week officials from BakerHostetler, one of the city's top law firms, said they had signed a lease agreement for about 62,000 square feet of space at 200 Civic Center Dr., right on the Scioto Mile District, the $40 million redevelopment area which now has 145 acres of parkland.
The firm will move 74 attorneys and 49 professional staff — currently working at Capitol Square at 65 E. State St. — to the new location in June 2017. CBRE represented BakerHostetler in the deal.
The building is a 14-story class A, 240,000-square-foot office building owned by Robert Meyers and Casto Partners. BakerHostetler signed a 10-year lease agreement and will occupy floors 10 through 13.
“As an important and longtime member of the Columbus business community, we are delighted to be moving to a place that is vital to the redevelopment of downtown,” said Ron Linville, managing partner of the firm's Columbus office. “Our move into a prime location with ample greenspace and an efficient and convenient office location reinforces our commitment to the well-being of our employees, the ease of use for our clients and the future of our community.”
BakerHostetler is a national law firm first founded in downtown Cleveland. It now has 14 offices and more than 940 attorneys across the US.
