Midtown Atlanta

ATLANTA—KC Conway has faced some unique challenges through the course of his career. The senior vice president of SunTrust Bank, though, doesn't shrink back in the face of adversity. That's one reason why he's enjoyed such a long and successful career.

GlobeSt.com caught up with Conway to talk about his goals moving forward in the latest installment of our exclusive interview. You can read more about his long family history in the commercial industry in part one of this series: Meet the Banker Who Has CRE In His DNA.

GlobeSt.com: What are your goals moving forward?

Conway: My goals are a constant work-in-progress. I view goals as something that should be difficult to obtain. Otherwise they are more like a bucket-list of tasks to complete.

Professionally, I want to do more with my economics and market intelligence skills. I love speaking to industry groups, presenting research and papers on “disrupting” topics such as 3D Print manufacturing or Bit Coin.

I enjoy figuring out puzzles and going out on a limb to make a forecast and consider myself more of a “futurist” than an economist. I love teaching and mentoring younger members in our industry to repay the help I received along the way.

I am most optimistic about game-changing trends in our economy ranging from 3D print manufacturing to remaking the North American supply chain from one that is currently more West Coast concentric to one that will be more East and Gulf coast concentric. If banking implodes and I can't repurpose my market intelligence and economic forecasting skills, my plan B is a food truck business in Colorado: “Crazy KC's Cannabis Edibles.”

It is either that or returning to my teenage hobby fostered by my late father: classic car restorations—the vintage 1964-1969 Ford Mustangs are my favorite as they have no computers, simple electronics and are just a lot of fun.
