NEW YORK CITY—Savills Studley has beefed up its retail practice.
The firm has added industry veterans Susan Kurland, David Gialanella and Victoria Oliva to the global retail services group in its headquarter office here, while promoting experienced retail professional Bill Bauman in Los Angeles.
“This team's broad global experience fits into our plans to integrate our US offering with the international platform of Savills,” says Michael Colacino, president.
Susan Kurland joins Savills Studley as EVP and co-head of Savills Studley's global retail services group. She comes to the firm from CBRE, where she also was EVP of the tri-state region retail services group. In her new role, Kurland will work closely with the company's retail leadership teams in North America, EMEA and Asia Pac to expand the Savills brand worldwide.
She specializes in representing major retailers to develop and execute real estate strategies in New York and in major cities throughout the globe. Prior to CBRE, Kurland worked as executive director with Cushman & Wakefield's retail group in New York.
David Gialanella joins Savills here as executive managing director. With over 30 years of experience within the industry, Gialanella has held senior leadership roles at Cushman & Wakefield, CBRE and DTZ.
During his 20-year tenure at C&W, Gialanella held a number of global positions and also served on the firm's board of directors and global management committee. He also served as the operating executive for C&W's New York region and led C&W's national retail group as EVP.
At Savills Studley, Gialanella will focus on building the multi-market, cross-border business, working closely with the global retail services group and New York leaders to develop new clients and to expand existing relationships.
Victoria Oliva joins the firm as managing director from CBRE where she served as senior associate working under the direction of Kurland, developing local, national and global retailing strategies for multinational firms.
At Savills she will provide consulting, advisory and transaction services. Earlier in her career, Oliva worked in CBRE's retail research division as a research analyst. She created market-trend research reports and did extensive work in consumer behavior and buyer segmentation analytics.
Bill Bauman, based in Savills Studley's Los Angeles office, also has been named co-head of Savills Studley's global retail services group, alongside Kurland. Bauman, who joined the firm in 2009 as EVP, leads a West Coast-based team.
Together, Bauman and Kurland will focus on growing the company's retail platform in the US while working closely with Savills retail leadership globally.
“I look forward to working closely with Susan and Bill's teams to find ways we can best serve our client's needs around the world,” says Sean Gillies, executive director of retail at Savills. “As Savills continues to grow its capabilities worldwide, having such an experienced on the ground in the U.S. is a tremendous asset.”
