WASHINGTON, DC--Skanska has signed a contract with the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority to build its new administrative headquarters building. The contract is worth $60 million.

The new headquarters will be built over an operating pump station and house approximately 350 employees. This building is targeted for LEED Platinum certification.

Construction will begin in 2016. The project is slated for completion in December 2017.

One Research Court Trades to JV

ROCKVILLE, MD--A joint venture between Alex. Brown Realty and Washington Property Co. has acquired One Research Court, a 113,620-square foot office building in Rockville, MD. ABR Chesapeake Fund V, a value-add real estate fund sponsored by ABR, invested $5.5 million in the joint venture. Financing for the acquisition was provided by Fulton Bank, N.A.

One Research Court, a four-story office built in 2001, caters to small to mid-sized tenants and is currently 89% occupied by 14 tenants. The joint venture plans capital improvements including upgrades to the lobby, bathrooms, elevators and gym and will also create a conference center within the building.
