Ross H. Bierkan RLJ Lodging Trust departure of Thomas J. Baltimore Jr. in April. Bierkan was one of the participants in the founding of RLJ Development and has served as the chief investment officier since the REIT formed in 2011.
He was also principal and EVP of the REIT's predecessor. Prior to that Bierkan was senior executive of The Plasencia Group, a hospitality transaction and consulting group. He also worked with Grubb and Ellis Real Estate and held various operational and sales management positions for Guest Quarters Hotels, which is now the Doubletree Guest Suites.
When Baltimore' departure was announced, RLJ's board named Bierkan as the interim CEO and formed a search committee to identify internal and external candidates for Baltimore's permanent replacement. Baltimore left RLJ to take the reins of Hilton Worldwide's real estate spin-off.
