Industrial ARLINGTON, TX—Construction on phase I of Arlington Commons , the city's largest multifamily redevelopment to date, is progressing with the addition of a four-story parking garage. The $200-million, 1,300-unit project will be built over four phases, with construction of phase I slated to be complete by spring of 2018. Developer The Nehemiah Co. expects the project to be fully completed in 2026. The development is located at 425 E. Lamar Boulevard near Globe Life Park. The project was designed by JHP Architecture/Urban Design and the general contractor is KWA Construction . Arlington Commons is replacing aging apartment complexes that were originally built in the 1970s. The redevelopment has garnered support from the community, including $10.5 million in economic incentives from the Arlington City Council . Brian Webster , president of KWA Construction, tells GlobeSt.com: "A four-story parking garage is the initial component in the construction of Arlington Commons, a project that includes nearly $10.5 million in city incentives. The first phase of the development will consist of 353 units and is slated to be complete by spring of 2018." Phase I is to occupy 5.56 acres of the 22.18-acre project and consist of a four-story apartment complex and garage, complete with a 1,589-square-foot leasing office, 869-square-foot clubhouse, 1,173-square-foot fitness center, and a 2,100-square-foot lounge and conference area. Floor plans will consist of one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 777 to 1,281 square feet, with private balconies or patios available.
