SAN FRANCISCO—Dogs are a man's (and woman's) best friend and that has never been more evident with the number of leashed pets seen out and about in the Bay Area. A pet shop in Tishman Speyer's Lumina is a logical convenience for all of those pet owner/residents within the vicinity of Beale and Folsom Streets.
The Woodlands Pet Shop will complement the Woodlands Market that leased space earlier this year in Lumina, the 656-residence luxury condominium community rising at 201 Folsom St. The pet shop will occupy a ground-floor retail space and be open seven days a week.
Don Santa, Woodlands Market's founder/CEO and San Francisco native, tells GlobeSt.com: “With the addition of hundreds of new homes in the neighborhood, LUMINA is the perfect location for our new pet shop. The SOMA community can expect the same level of quality that Woodlands Market has become known for.”
Located at Main and Folsom Streets, where SoMa meets the Embarcadero, Lumina offers modern residences with dramatic city/bay views and amenities including a bi-level club lounge with private dining room and chef's demonstration kitchen, indoor screening room and business center.
“The addition of Woodlands Pet Shop will be an added amenity for residents moving into the community as well as those already living in the vicinity,” said Carl Shannon, Tishman Speyer's senior managing director for Northern California. “Anyone who owns a pet will understand that this is will add a much-needed amenity for pet owners in the SoMa neighborhood.”
Since it opened in 1986, Woodlands Market has been successfully operating as a local family-owned grocery store that has been open for business every day since operations began. The Santa family is committed to sustainable business practices and employs reduce, reuse and recycle policies throughout its stores. In 2005, Woodlands installed solar panels and became an early adopter in commercial energy awareness and conservation. The company's commitment to trash composting helped set another industry standard in a store that produces most of the food it serves on site. Woodlands Market has been recognized locally and nationally for being an industry innovator by focusing on organic, natural and sustainable products, sourcing local suppliers and maintaining a steadfast commitment to its surrounding communities.
