NEW YORK CITY—MIPIM is coming here.

Reed MIDEM and MetaProp NYC have partnered to produce MIPIM PropTech Summit as 2016 NYC Real Estate Tech Week's flagship event. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 5,  of this year at the Altman Building, 135 W. 18th St.

The MIPIM PropTech Summit will be the first conference in North America to be part of the MIPIM series of events, which includes MIPIM UK, MIPIM Asia Summit, MIPIM Japan and the MIPIM flagship event in Cannes, France, a fourday exhibition, conference and networking event with more than 23,000 international attendees. It also will be the first of the MIPIM series to focus exclusively on the future of the real estate market, with a heavy emphasis on the impact of technology as the real estate tech industry continues to gain momentum.

The MIPIM PropTech Summit will feature a full day of conference, networking and innovative contacts, including the first ever North America stop in the Global Startup Competition series. It provides startups with an opportunity to meet and pitch business to relevant investors, developers, financial companies, media, analysts and other key influencers. The winner of the competition will compete against startups from stops in London and Hong Kong and will qualify for the final competition at Reed MIDEM's MIPIM event, in Cannes, France.

In its second year, NYC Real Estate Tech Week is expected to be the largest gathering of real estate technology leaders to date, with the support of NYC Real Estate Tech Week's community partners Association for a Better New York, NYC Economic Development Corp., NYC & Co., REBNY, Tech:NYC and multiple other organizations.

“Recognizing that we are reaching the tipping point in the rapidly growing importance of PropTech, Reed MIDEM sees New York City as the epicenter of this movement and the clear choice to host our North America MIPIM PropTech Summit,” says Filippo Rean, head of the real estate division for Reed MIDEM. “We are proud to partner with MetaProp NYC in bringing this premier summit and global real estate startup competition to New York City.”

Adds MetaProp NYC cofounder and managing director Aaron Block, “Congratulations to our real estate tech community partners for their tireless work in securing the first North America event of the famed MIPIM series. Bringing this prestigious global event to New York City speaks to the quality of RETech innovation, the strength of our community and the continued leadership role NYC will play as this sector grows and comes closer together globally.”

“REBNY is proud to join with MetaProp NYC and our other private and public RETech partners, in demonstrating our shared commitment to making New York City the premier real estate technology center of the world,”  asserts Ryan Baxter, assistant VP, management services & government affairs, REBNY.
