AUSTIN, TX—The Commercial Brokers Association of Austin's (CBA) annual golf tournament supports the work of Explore Austin and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas. Together, CBA members raised a record $50,000 at the tournament, with $25,000 donated to each Austin organization.
Key professionals on hand to present the donations were Laura Nettleton, director of development, Explore Austin; Walker Hendry, community relations manager, Explore Austin; Mike Braeuer, CEO, Explore Austin; Patrick Ley, brokerage principal, ECR | Equitable Commercial Realty; Carolyn Schwarz, chief executive officer, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas; and Tina Snider, director of communications, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas.
Ley tells GlobeSt.com: “Since 1985, CBA has existed to be the face of the commercial real estate brokerage community in the community of Austin. Over the last five years, we have greatly expanded benefits to our membership through social engagement and philanthropy. 2016 marks the first year our fundraising will be able to support two nonprofits in a very meaningful way with over $80,000 split between Explore Austin and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas. I can't think of another organization in our industry that has created the same impact over the last 31 years.”
The mission of Explore Austin is to change the lives of underserved youth through leadership, mentoring and adventure. Founded in 2006, Explore Austin combines the benefits of mentoring and outdoor adventure in a six-year program for children in the 6th through 12th grades. Focusing on team building and leadership training, Explore Austin helps explorers increase confidence, build character and develop a sense of responsibility for themselves and those around them. With nine Saturday challenges and a week-long summer wilderness trip to remote destinations each year, Explore Austin attracts motivated students who desire to learn how to become leaders, experience new places, make lasting friendships and seek challenges.
CBA is an organization set up to unite those who are actively involved in the leasing or sales of office, retail or industrial buildings in order to foster knowledge, education, integrity and quality workmanship in the leasing of commercial space.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas, a nonprofit organization, creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. The Ronald McDonald House programs provide a home-away-from-home to keep families together as their critically ill or injured children heal in the hospital. Ronald McDonald recently expanded its services to Bryan-College Station and opened a fifth family room at CHI St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital.
