NEW YORK CITY—OVG Real Estate—a European real estate technology company, with offices in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Berlin—has expanded into the US by opening an office here

Commited to developing smart, high-tech, and sustainable office buildings, OVG is responsible for The Edge in Amsterdam, a cutting-edge project that earned the title of 'world's most sustainable office building' in 2015.

OVG's US operations will be led and managed by Jan-Hein Lakeman, who takes office as executive managing director of OVG Real Estate USA Holding come October 1st.  Lakeman has served in various commercial roles and management positions during his 12 years with OVG. He is a member of the Dutch management team.

“This for me is a dream come true,” says company founder and CEO Coen van Oostrom. “We're delighted at the opportunity to integrate modern and sustainable technologies in old and new buildings, transforming the way people in America experience their work spaces and creating smart cities.”

He continues, “We're eager to bring our passion and vision to a new market, especially one that has a strong appetite for intelligent living and working. We remain committed to creating positive social, economic and environmental impact in major cities worldwide.”

Adds  Lakeman, “We're very excited at our prospects in the US. The sheer scale of opportunity in a market that is home to the most multinational companies in the world, is enormous. We're banking on the strength of our credentials as developers of smart and sustainable technologies and creators of the healthiest and most productive work environments.”

He elaborates, “Our main focus will be to develop office buildings in the American Northeast, from Boston to Washington. We're encouraged by the initial response from potential partners and look forward to making other announcements in the near future.”

Last week, OVG announced a joint venture with pan-European investor FREO to develop the 'East Side Tower' in Berlin, slated to be a flagship project for innovative building and utilization technologies, as well as one of the tallest buildings in the city.

OVG has been widely recognized in the US, receiving the Corenet Global Sustainability Award in 2013 and 2015, the IBcon Digie Award in 2014 and 2016 and the Innovators Award in 2015.
