Diane Tomb

WASHINGTON, DC—The National Rental Home Council has named its first executive director, appointing Diane Tomb to the position. She will lead the industry's efforts to engage with stakeholders and members of the public to educate them on the importance of the single-family rental sector. Her appointment comes on the heels of the NRHC adding companies to its membership roster.

Over the course of more than 25 years, Tomb has established an advocacy and communications track record in both the public and private sectors. She founded public affairs and business advisory firm Tomb & Associates LLC in 2003, after serving in both the Reagan and Bush 41 administrations as assistant secretary of public affairs at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

From 2011 to 2013, she served as President & CEO of the National Association of Women Business Owners, representing members on public policy issues before Congress and at the White House. Currently, Tomb serves as a commissioner on the Bipartisan Policy Center's Commission on Political Reform and is a member of the International Women's Forum of Washington, DC.

“Diane has a proven track record and possesses the right mix of skills to lead the continued growth of our organization,” says John Bartling, CEO of Invitation Homes and president of the NRHC board. “Her wealth of industry knowledge, policy expertise and more than 25 years of experience in this arena are a great match for the NRHC.” Tomb notes that SFR housing “plays a critical role in today's housing market by providing residents and families the option of renting attractive, high-quality single family homes and providing important economic investment in communities across the nation.”

Earlier this summer, the NRHC added four new member companies to the organization. They include Lafayette RE, a New York-based private equity firm focused on the SFR asset class; Rently, a self-service rental home-showing platform; Roofstock, an online marketplace for investing in leased SFR homes; and SMS Assist, an online platform that manages contractors across multiple SFR units.
