975 Walton St

NEW YORK CITY—Thor Equities has made a foray in the Bronx, GlobeSt.com has confirmed.

The building owner and developer has purchased 975 Walton Ave.—a 279,000-square-foot, elevator building—for $44 million, according to the Commercial Observer and confirmed to GlobeSt.com by a source close to the deal. A Thor Equities spokesman declined to comment.

Featuring 180 residential rental units and three retail units totaling 1,000 square feet, the building is comprised of six stories. The unit breakdown is 61 one-bedrooms, 75 two-bedrooms, 19 three-bedrooms, 14 four-bedrooms and 10 five-bedrooms, plus one superintendent's unit.

Located near East 164th Street, and one block away from Yankee Stadium, the building was sold by Brooklyn-based investor Benzion Kohn. He just purchased the site in April of last year for $30 million, the Observer reports.

The corner elevator building directly overlooks Joyce Kilmer Park and is two blocks from the 4, B and D trains, or a short drive to the Major Deegan Expressway, the source tells GlobeSt.com.

Steven Vegh from Westwood Realty Associates confirmed to the Observer that he brokered the deal.
