SAN JOSE—Heeding the ever-present call for housing in the Bay Area, a new mixed-use mid-rise is taking in residents. Leasing is underway on The Pierce, a 232-unit luxury apartment and retail community in downtown. Located at 2 Pierce Ave., the site is on Market Street between Pierce Avenue and Reed Street in the emerging South First Area district (SOFA)–San Jose's visual arts and entertainment destination.
Apartments at The Pierce will be available for move-in during mid-fall and include studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom two-bath townhomes. Rental rates start at $2,750, according to Sares Regis Group of Northern California.
“The SOFA District has recently emerged as one of the city's hottest destinations for San Jose which has been in need of additional workplace housing,” Jeff Smith, SRGNC's senior vice president of residential development, tells GlobeSt.com. “The Pierce offers the chance to live in one of San Jose's most up-and-coming districts.”
In addition to the 232 luxury rental units available, The Pierce has 4,300 square feet of ground floor retail space. Two-story spaces at the ground level include a leasing center, reception lobby, high-speed WiFi cafe and fitness center. An outdoor kitchen, screening room, bike shop, swimming pool, landscaped gardens and roof terrace can be found on the upper floors of the residential portion of the community. The community also includes a two-story concrete garage with 323 spaces.
Designed by Steinberg Architects, The Pierce's plans incorporate streamlined architectural elements into a modern design. The corner of Pierce and Market will be enhanced by a glass-enclosed space.
Sares Regis partnered on the project with Chicago-based Pritzker Realty Group. The design and development team includes Steinberg Architects, general contractor Clark Builders Group, HMH Civil Engineers, The Guzzardo Partnership Landscape Architects, MEP engineer Belden Inc. and structural engineer Nishkian Menninger.
