Madeleine Barber of CBRE

PHILADELPHIA—CBRE Group Inc. said Monday it had named Madeleine G. Barber to the post of chief tax officer. She'll be responsible for managing and directing all aspects of CBRE's global tax function including tax planning, provision, policy and compliance, and will be based in Philadelphia.

Barber joins CBRE from Tyco International, where she most recently served as SVP and chief tax officer. During her 12-year tenure with Tyco, she held increasingly responsible positions with the company during a period in which it underwent significant changes. She played played a key role in executing the spin-off of Tyco's healthcare and electronics businesses in 2007 and its North American residential security and valves & controls businesses in 2012.

A 25-year veteran, Barber began her career in public accounting, serving primarily Fortune 100 clients, with the international tax practices at Arthur Andersen and KPMG, and was a partner at both firms. “Madeleine is a successful executive who brings a wealth of expertise in tax matters to CBRE and has a record of working effectively across functions to create competitive advantage,” says Jim Groch, CFO at CBRE. Barber will report to Groch.
