NEW YORK CITY—Brooklyn office tenants concerned about getting around when the L train shuts down for 18 months in 2019 just received a gift.
ABS Partners Real Estate has revealed it is working with a group of developers to arrange a shuttle bus for East Williamsburg and Bushwick office tenants during that time. The shuttle will run to and from the Myrtle Avenue subway station to participating office buildings, operating regularly to transport tenants to their destination in under 10 minutes.
As of now, the following properties are participating in the program 455 Jefferson St. (Lincoln Property Co.); 314 Scholes St. (Hudson Cos.); Bushwick Generator (Heritage Equity Partners); 333 Johnson Ave. (Normandy Real Estate Partners); and Paper Mill, 456 Johnson Ave. (Sequoia Development Group.
The shuttle is slated to run every 15-20 minutes on two loops between the J/M/Z Myrtle Avenue MTA station and the participating properties. The J/M/Z subway line provides direct access to Herald Square and Penn Station and connects to other major subway lines to provide access to the rest of the city.
“Brooklynites and New Yorkers in general learn to adapt and make the city work for them,” says Ben Waller, head of ABS Partners' Brooklyn office. “There is a tremendous amount of investment and energy being put into this area of Brooklyn and the stakeholders are working together to ensure that it continues to grow as a hub for business and culture.”
He continues, “We have a great group of buildings participating in this project and we're hoping to bring on more partners as the MTA work nears; we want people to know that Bushwick and East Williamsburg will still be easily accessible in 2019.”
In addition, Waller notes, “We're also planning to create a tracking app that shows riders the shuttle's location in real time, making the commute even easier.”
