SAN FRANCISCO—As the second most expensive market in the country with demand for housing at a fever pitch in San Francisco, developer Pacific Eagle Holdings is taking a unique approach to the local need as seen in the floor plans, amenities and offerings at The Austin. This new project is located at 1545 Pine St.
The Austin is a rare gem among the city's oldest affluent neighborhoods–historic Nob Hill, Pacific Heights, Cow Hollow and Russian Hill. Just steps from Polk Street, this area is becoming a popular shopping and dining walking destination.
“When designing the Austin, we focused on juxtaposing the social energy of the city with a quiet retreat at home. We found that this is what many of San Francisco's discerning buyers are looking for,” Hans Galland, senior vice president of development for Pacific Eagle, tells GlobeSt.com. “The Austin will be home to 100 thoughtfully crafted residences offering the calming experience of organic California modernism and beautiful Nob Hill views. This contrasts with the energy of our lobby workspace, social roof deck and location in the city's most active, coolest, and up-and-coming neighborhood.”
Designed around a concept of frames, The Austin's façade of large white rectangles adds to the city's skyline from a distance—while from within, each window frames a unique perspective of the city. The white-clad and glass exterior's three towers that slope up Pine Street help anchor this neighborhood that continues to evolve and re-create itself, GlobeSt.com learns. To live at The Austin is to be open and social, receptive to the conviviality of both the neighborhood and the city, so says Pacific Eagle Holdings.
“The exterior architecture has to be bold, because for the most part it's being seen from vehicles, at great speed. But inside, of course the atmosphere is more intimate and the pace is slower. So we always think about the five senses when we're designing,” says principal Vivian Lee of Edmonds + Lee. Her team also thought a lot about living in an urban space and how to capitalize on that contemporary lifestyle. To do so, she says, “authenticity” was the prevalent language.
Pacific Eagle is a San Francisco-based real estate manager with a more than 20-year track record investing in hotels, offices, and condominiums in the United States.
