Gino Sabatini of W. P. Carey

NEW YORK CITY—Sixteen-year company veteran Gino Sabatini has been promoted to head of investments at net lease REIT W. P. Carey Inc. He'll oversee the sourcing, negotiating and structuring of WPC's investments in the US and Europe, reporting to company president Jason Fox, who will now directly oversee both the company's investment and asset management activities.

“Over the past five years, Gino has been responsible for more than $6 billion in acquisitions for W. P. Carey and our managed funds,” Fox says. “He has also been a mentor and leader to the other members of our investment team.”

Accordingly, Fox adds, Sabatini has not “not only helped grow the company, but helped develop a team of investment professionals that form the backbone of our established and well-recognized acquisitions group. We are pleased to announce Gino's promotion and I, personally, look forward to continuing our long and productive relationship, having worked with Gino for more than 14 years.”

Sabatini joined WPC in 2000. He previously served as co-head of global investments from 2011 to 2015 and as head of US net lease investments from 2015 to 2016.

The announcement of Sabatini's promotion follows another personnel milestone at the REIT. This past Friday, WPC said that 15-year company veteran Thomas Zacharias, the company's COO and head of asset management, would retire from the company this coming March 31. He'll remain a consultant for the balance of 2017.

Brooks Gordon will be promoted to head of asset management upon Zacharias' departure.  He joined the company in 2006 and was promoted to director in 2010 and to managing director in 2014. Most recently, he oversaw the North American asset management team, which is responsible for all transaction activity including dispositions, refinancings and re-leasing activity.
