Monticello Apartments

SANTA CLARA, CA—In cities at the turn of the last century, first-floor retail with upper-level apartments was commonplace, hence the term “living above the store.” As automobiles pushed development out to the suburbs, this concept was lost in the real estate landscape. Today, in a nod to the past, it is being revitalized in suburban locations.

These multifamily developers acknowledge after a long day at work, the last thing on a tired worker's mind is getting in the car to go back out for food or necessities. One such project is assembling retailers at its community to provide residents the convenience of grab and go, thus allowing them to decompress after the work day and avoid more traffic hassles.

Pressed Juicery will join other Monticello Apartment Homes' eateries, California Pizza Kitchen, The Yellow Chilli, Konjoe Burger Bar and Vitality Bowls Superfood Café, set to open in the first half of 2017. The cold-pressed juice company is slated to open at 3555 Monroe St. within the apartment complex.

“Pressed Juicery is the go-to destination for healthy and refreshing beverages, perfect for those on-the-go,” said Dave Moore, president of Irvine Company Retail Properties. “They will be a welcome addition to the apartment community's retail offerings.”

Monticello Apartment Homes is a master-planned community with amenities including a fitness center, a gaming room and on-site retail. It offers a collection of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartment homes featuring stainless steel appliances, walk-in closets and the convenience of in-suite laundry.

“Our Monticello location will have a unique product offering that includes a curated selection of grab-and-go snacks,” Moore tells GlobeSt.com. “Monticello's retail component provides the perfect blend of social opportunity and health and wellness, especially with the addition of Pressed Juicery. Everything you need is right at your doorstep.”

The new store will offer the brand's cold-pressed juices, signature beverages, cold-pressed coffee and specialty waters in addition to two-ounce shots and selection of grab-and-go snacks. This location will also feature Freeze, Pressed Juicery's popular vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free frozen soft serve treat made from only the ingredients found in its juices.

“We're thrilled to bring our nutritious and affordable cold-pressed juices, freezes and other products to the Monticello community,” said Hayden Slater, co-founder and CEO of Pressed Juicery, who founded the company in 2010 with childhood friends, Hedi Gores and Carly de Castro. “At Pressed Juicery, we believe that our stores don't belong to us, but rather the communities where they are located, and we look forward to sharing our passion for wellness with the residents of Monticello by offering products that are both healthy and taste great.”

Located off the Lawrence Expressway and steps away from the Caltrain Lawrence Station, the Monticello apartment site eases the commute within Silicon Valley and the Bay Area.
