ANAHEIM, CA—Anaheim is quickly developing into a national beer hub, and the Platinum Triangle's current revitalization makes it the perfect place for this sizable brewpub and beer garden, Golden Road Brewing co-founder Meg Gill tells GlobeSt.com. Gill, who was listed in Forbes' 30 Under 30 in 2015, sold the Los Angeles-based brewery and pub she helped start in 2011 to Anheuser-Busch, and is now developing a brewpub in Anaheim. We spoke with Gill about the new venture, why now is the right time for this project and how it is being viewed by the Orange County market.
GlobeSt.com: What are the details on the brewpub you're developing in Anaheim?
Gill: It's a roughly 30,000-square-foot outdoor beer garden, including a hammock grove, bocce, a play space for yard games, a kid area, dog park and fire pit. It will feature 15 barrels of experiential/limited brews, a coffee roaster and an indoor tank bar. Several ferm vessels focused on making micro-batch beers will capture the “promiscuous drinker's” heart. There will also be a barrel room for aging beer and private events, as well as an indoor dining room.
GlobeSt.com: Why is now the right time for this project?
Gill: When is it not the right time for more craft beer? GRB is investing in Anaheim as the creative arm for the brand. We have been in need of R&D space for brewing, so that is the base, and having the community be an interactive part of our brewing process is at our roots. Anaheim is quickly developing into a national beer hub. Specifically, the Platinum Triangle is under a major revitalization and we're excited to be part of it.
GlobeSt.com: How do you feel these types of projects are being viewed by customers in the Orange County market?
Gill: People love it. Every day in the tasting room, people are asking, “What's the plan for the location?” All we need to say is beer garden, killer food, brewer's playground, creative space and sunshine, sunshine, sunshine. Our space will be sprawling for something everyone of all ages to enjoy, from a kids-area to bar tops to games, with pockets of family-room settings.
GlobeSt.com: What else should our readers know about you and your company?
Gill: Golden Road and I embody the values of our brand: an ambitious nature that thrives in the optimism of the California sun. We are always striving to get better, brew better and build a better community, through beer, together.
