LOS ANGELES—Colliers International has hired Reza Ghobadi, a veteran broker with more than $750 million in transactions, as SVP. In this new role, Ghobadi will lead and expand the firm's multifamily and mixed-use platforms in the San Fernando Valley and Tri-Cities markets. Colliers tapped Ghobadi for the position after a recruitment battle with other firms, which gave Ghobadi prime choice of where he landed.
“Several firms made offers, but, after several lengthy discussions with Hans Mumper, who heads the company here, and at the urging of several others who have worked here for years, it started to become clear Colliers had the resources that I wanted. The firm has put in place the right tools for their brokers to grow well into the future,” Ghobadi tells GlobeSt.com. “This is nothing static in this company and they are embracing the increasingly global nature of the business. It has the international reach and I like that. That, along with the corporate culture and the amount of time so many senior brokers here have been with the company just so impressed me. I mean, in every single office I've visited in the L.A. Basin, a majority of the brokers have been with the company 10, 20, 30 years and some even more. It's just so impressive when you see that.”
Ghobadi joins the firm from the Ghobadi Group, where he served as president, and has previously worked with KW Commercial and Marcus & Millichap. With a background as the owner and operator of a hospitality and transport company, Ghobadi transitioned into a brokerage career in 2006, and soared to immediate success, earning Rookie of the Year at Marcus & Millichap in 2007. “My lengthy experience first as a business owner and now as a senior investment broker, along with my ability to fluently speak three languages, has allowed me to create a loyal following of clients from a variety of backgrounds in the ethnically diverse communities of the San Fernando Valley the Tri-Cities submarkets of Pasadena-Glendale-Burbank and greater L.A. as a whole,” explains Ghobadi, who speaks Swedish, Farsi and English.
While Ghobadi's focus will be in leading and expanding the firm's presence in the San Fernando Valley and Tri-Cities markets, he will work throughout Los Angeles. “I also will be doing business in other markets in the Greater L.A. area since many of my clients have properties throughout the basin,” he says. “Greater Los Angeles is a melting pot and being fluent in three languages gives me and Colliers another resource to offer our clients.”
