LOS ANGELES—CBRE Group said Tuesday that its Valuation & Advisory Services seniors housing & care and medical office practices would combine to form one cohesive Healthcare Practice Group within the VAS platform.
The new group will focus on
independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing care, continuing care retirement community, medical office, surgical centers, outpatient rehab and hospitals, and will be led by Zach Bowyer, Tom Baroch and Bennett Johnson.

“With an aging demographic profile in the US and evolving healthcare systems, we are now seeing a greater overlap in these sectors from our clients,” says Mike Rowland, executive managing director, valuation & advisory services at CBRE. “The combined Healthcare Practice Group will allow us to gain valuable insight into the full spectrum of healthcare services.”

Over the past three years, both the seniors housing & care and medical office groups have achieved a combined 30% year-over-year growth in revenues. Last year, the two groups completed valuation or advisory assignments on more than 3,000 seniors housing and medical properties throughout the US with an aggregate valuation exceeding $50 billion.

“We have a really strong team of experts,” says Chris Sonne, EVP and director of specialty practices, VAS, at CBRE. “It is exciting to reflect on what we have accomplished in such a short amount of time, and knowing the opportunities ahead.”

The integrated healthcare practice platform is leveraged by a network of more than 725 appraisers and consultants, with local market presence in more than 98 major metro areas. It complements the firm's Healthcare Services Group, a dedicated business group within CBRE focused exclusively on providing real estate solutions to hospitals and healthcare organizations throughout the country, and its US Healthcare Capital Markets Group.
