BETHESDA, MD–Commercial broker Gil Neuman has left Greysteel and launched a real estate brokerage firm that represents retail sellers throughout the Mid-Atlantic. The firm, Neuman Commercial Group, has offices in Bethesda and Owings Mills.
Cyrus Kashfian and Joyce Swain, Neuman's core team-members at Greysteel, joined him at his firm.
“Considering the uncertainty of a new Administration and a changing interest rate environment, we felt it was time to leverage our reputation and set up a boutique shop,” Neuman tells GlobeSt.com.
The firm points to years of selling middle-market properties — in the $2 million to $35 million range — in the Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland and surrounding markets. In 2016, the Neuman-led team closed over $100 million in retail sales. Some 80% of these were listed prior with large national and regional brokerage firms but failed to sell as “impossible” deals, according to Neuman.
Shortly after the firm's launch, it was approached to represent several deals, according to Neuman. “One hit the market last week, and more will be released in the coming weeks prior to the ICSC RECON convention in Las Vegas.”
Neuman Commercial is marketing Tollhouse Retail Center in Leesburg, VA. The center, which is located at 305 East Market St. at the entrance to Leesburg Historic District, has been owned for 23 years by the same partnership.
