DALLAS—MYCON General Contractors purchased the 50,205-square-foot building at 17311 Dallas Pkwy. in 2015. The company completed renovations in March 2017. The 1979 building on 1.9 acres has been completely re-skinned, renovated and reinvigorated by MYCON's project team with updated interior design, energy-efficient HVAC systems and new technologies to accommodate the company's headquarter needs.
The company recently completed its relocation to this newly renovated building. The relocation coincides with MYCON's 30th anniversary of doing business in the Texas construction industry, according to Charles R. Myers, MYCON's CEO.
“We selected this particular building because of its location, existing tenant mix, sizable land footprint, and its proximity to our existing and future employees and clients,” says Myers. “We invested heavily in this retrofit to showcase our construction capabilities and to enhance our brand while improving the built environment in our community.”
Myers noted that retrofits of this type represent both challenges and rewards for investors and developers in the broader marketplace. This project was successful due to the company's construction expertise, its relationships with financiers and architects, and its relationship with city/county representatives and residents in promoting economic development.
“Renovating a commercial office building from the 1970s can present multiple challenges,” Myers tells GlobeSt.com. “We were able to expand the original footprint, create a dramatic, modern interior with energy-efficient HVAC systems while adding sophisticated technologies necessary to manage our growth.”
