Ronald McDonald House

HOUSTON—Ronald McDonald House Houston is in the midst of an aggressive $22.5 million capital campaign to further serve families of critically ill children in the Texas Medical Center. In addition, the board of directors has appointed brigadier general Rick Noriega as CEO, effective July 10, 2017.

“This is a historic time for Ronald McDonald House Houston as we are in the midst of an expansion and renovation of our flagship Holcombe House facility through our Behind Every Door capital campaign,” said Lesha Elsenbrook, board president and capital campaign chairman of Ronald McDonald House Houston. “With his proven, outstanding leadership skills and his record of service to our country and the community, Rick is exactly the leader we need to move us forward.”

Phase one of the Ronald McDonald House Houston expansion and renovation of Holcombe House, the 50-bedroom flagship facility, has commenced. Construction fencing and cranes arrived on site earlier this month. At an estimated cost of $15.3 million, phase one of the project includes construction of the new two-story tower containing 20 new bedrooms, increasing the facility's capacity by 40%. The tower will connect with the house through skywalks on the second and third levels.

“Phase one of our Behind Every Door capital campaign includes construction of a new two-story tower containing 20 bedrooms,” Elsenbrook tells GlobeSt.com. “We will increase our capacity by 40%, which will allow us to serve even more families with critically ill children being treated in in the Texas Medical Center. We are also making significant infrastructure enhancements which will improve functionality, comfort and energy efficiency to our existing Holcombe House. Our goal is always to make this home away from home as comfortable for these families as possible and our phase one improvements will help us start that plan.”
