DALLAS—Shawn Pyatt has been appointed MYCON General Contractors' new chief financial officer, according to Charles R. Myers, MYCON's CEO. Pyatt comes to MYCON with more than 25 years of financial and executive leadership experience in the construction industry.

In this position, Pyatt will be responsible for financial management as well as directing the activities of the human resources department and information technology department. Additionally, Pyatt will manage the firm's surety and insurance programs, and provide guidance and direction for the company's risk management program.

On the heels of this announcement, Myers recently discussed the company's growth in the North Texas region in this exclusive.

GlobeSt.com: What is your game plan for growth as the market grows?

Myers: We continue to claim more market share in our traditional business units, and we are using these successes to enter new markets, such as healthcare and hospitality. At the end of the day, it is your people that make the difference: recruiting, training and retaining. We have been very fortunate to attract outstanding talent to lead our firm in every market sector we have entered.

GlobeSt.com: DFW construction is off the charts. Please share some insight into how this pace can be sustained with the right construction/planning methods.

Myers: We take great care in maintaining great partnerships with great vendors that make us successful.  By bringing MYCON in early along with our key vendors for planning purposes, our clients can aim for a successful outcome, even in a highly competitive construction market where labor and supplies can escalate in cost.

GlobeSt.com: What are some of the major projects in which you are involved?

Myers: Tanger Outlets in Fort Worth, IKEA in Grand Prairie, Davis Building renovation in downtown Dallas and several major distribution centers, including Discount Tire in southern Dallas.

GlobeSt.com: What are some of the construction trends you are seeing in this frenzy?

Myers: More design–assist and design–build delivery methods. Our clients need predictable delivery methods which minimize risk for them.
