The plans to revitalize the John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, Queens, are getting even bolder. Operators of The New Terminal One and JCM Business Solutions have entered a partnership to build a centralized logistics hub that's adjacent to the airport itself.
The JCM Logistics Complex will aim to ensure products that enter the terminal are done so securely and efficiently, according to officials of The New Terminal One. The goal is to do away with third-party truck deliveries, cut back on traffic on airside and public roads and use terminal resources. Also, sustainability will be prioritized in the process.
The 83,500-square-foot facility will include reverse logistics, storage functions, a freezer and a cooler.
JCM Logistics Complex is expected to create 60 jobs locally and is scheduled to be operational by the end of the year.
"Together with the New Terminal One, the JCM team is ready to deliver new supply chain management services with the signature customer service and operational integrity that drive optimal value to our clients," Judith E. Conlon, CEO, JCM Business Solutions, said in a statement.
"Our team of logistics and JFK operations professionals is supported by state-of-the-art technology and an exceptional facility. We are proud and excited to provide this ground-breaking service and confident that this solution will benefit the JFK community for years to come."
The New Terminal One is the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's $19 billion overhaul of the JFK Airport, which will give it two new terminals, as well as renovate and expand two existing ones. Additionally, the 2.6 million square foot project will create a new ground transportation center and a new roadway network.
The New Terminal One is undergoing construction in phases, with the first portion set to open in 2026, which will introduce 14 new gates. The development is expected to be completed in 2030 and will feature a total of 23 gates. The New Terminal One as a whole will serve as JFK's largest terminal and will be the same size as the ones combined in East Elmhurst's LaGuardia Airport.
