Homes in the nation’s 10 “hottest” zip codes spent much less time on the market and got more online views per listing than national averages, and most were in the Northeast or Midwest, according to Realtor.com’s 2025 report.
In these zip codes, homes sold 30 to 42 days faster on average than nationwide. They also generated more interest, attracting an average of 3.3 to 5.2 views per listing.
The ten zip codes topping the nation were led by 01915 Beverly, MA, a suburb tied to Boston and Cambridge in Massachusetts and Newton in New Hampshire. Second was 08053 Marlton, N.J., in the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington region with access to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. Other zip codes in the Northeast that made the top 10 were 01453 Leominster, MA, in Worcester; 07470 Wayne, N.J., in the New York-New Jersey area; 06611 Trumbull, CT, in the Bridgeport-Stamford metro; 02864 Cumberland, RI in the Providence-Warwick, MA metro, and 06074 South Windsor, CT, in the Hartford metro.
In the Midwest, 63021 Ballwin, MO, in the St. Louis area, led the way, followed by two Ohio zip codes 44149 Strongsville near Cleveland and 43209 Bexley near Columbus.
Only one zip code per metropolitan area was included in the study. Strongsville, Trumbull, Cumberland and South Windsor were new to the top 10 list.
Even though these zip codes were in different regions of the country, they shared certain commonalities. They are close to major metro hubs with strong economies, relatively more affordable than their nearby metros and offer appealing lifestyles. In some areas, most of the online views came from out-of-area buyers, especially from New York City, Boston and Washington, DC. However, in Beverly, Ballwin and Wayne local viewers outnumbered out-of-towners.
“Many of these neighborhoods also offer newer homes than the surrounding areas, highlighting the critical role of new and infill construction in meeting today’s buyer demand – even in a tough market,” noted Realtor.com’s chief economist Danielle Hale. In six of the top 10 zip codes, homes are larger than the average for their metro. Excellent schools and community amenities are common. Another feature is that many are within easy commuting distance of top job markets. In addition, home ownership rates in these zip codes average 75.2%, well above the national rate of 65.1%.
Moreover, these zip codes appeal to more affluent consumers. Buyers’ median household income was $114,000, compared to the national median of $79,000. Their average credit score was 759 (748 national), they made downpayments ranging from $42,000 to $143,000 ($30,000) and the median age of the head of household was 56 (54).
“While seven of the top 10 ZIPs had median listing prices above the national average of $441,000 (as of June 2025), six of the ten were more affordable than their surrounding metro areas. This shows buyers are seeking relative value and prioritizing savings over the metro median rather than chasing the lowest possible price point,” the report commented. In the Midwestern zip codes, however, home prices were higher than in their surrounding metros – though moderate on a national scale.
"In a year when affordability challenges and limited inventory continue to weigh on buyers, the ZIP codes rising to the top of our list stand out for offering both strong value and livability," said Hale.
