In a massive consolidation of three Jersey distribution facilities, Lantis Eyewear Corp. has agreed to occupy a 338,850-sf build-to-suit here. Hartz Mountain will develop the property with a September 2001 completion target.

The new space will reportedly also accommodate the designer and distributor’s growth plans. When asked why the deal was appealing, James Emden, managing director for Insignia/ESG, cited “timing and room to grow.” Insignia spoke for the tenant in the deal.

Hartz currently owns and operates some 175 buildings in the New York/New Jersey area. The portfolio represents on the order of 34 million sf.
