Taking advantage of a white-hot Silicon Valley market, Bedford Property Investors Inc. sold a Mountain View, Calif., office building for $16.8 million, or $400/sf.

The Lafayette, Calif.-based real estate investment trust says it gained $11.8 million off the 42,141-sf, two-story building with underground parking. Bedford had owned the property since 1996.

The building is located at 100 View St. Bedford CFO Hanh Kihara declined to name the building’s buyers. “I would rather not disclose it because we do not have the other party’s approval,” she said.

Kihara did tell GlobeSt.com that the nine-tenant property includes architecture firm Hawley, Petersen and Snyder, as well as KnightRidder.com, the online arm of publishing giant Knight-Ridder.
