LOS ANGELES-Travelers Insurance has signed a $4.5-million lease that will result in a relocation to Glendale from Van Nuys.

Terms of the five-year deal will provide the insurance giant with 35,000 sf at 700 N. Central Ave. The move is sure to boost Glendale’s already strong position as one of the LA area’s leading financial centers.

Bill Boyd of the Downtown LA office of Grubb & Ellis represented Westbrook Partners, the landlord of the 21-year-old, eight-story building. Nico Vilgiate of the Downtown LA office of Insignia/ESG Inc. and Tom Maloney of Cushman Realty Corp. represented Travelers.

Travelers, a subsidiary of Manhattan-based Citigroup, will move from its current Van Nuys offices in October.
