Biotech Firm Building $3 Mil-Headquarters in Ft. Collins

FT. COLLINS, CO-Cytomation Inc., an international biotech instrumentation company, is doubling the size of its headquarters in this northern Colorado city.

Cytomation, maker of the what are said to be the world’s fastest single-cell analyzers and sorters, is building a $3-million, 24,000-sf facility in southeast Ft. Collins, about a 90-minute drive north of Denver. Ft. Collins is home to Colorado State University.

The company already has an adjacent 11,000-sf manufacturing facility. In addition, the company will lease 15,000-sf of new buildings, the first of three phases for a $7-million, 80,000-sf campus positioned on eight acres. “Cytomation has seen tremendous growth in recent years, and we don’t expect it to slow down anytime soon,” says Nigel Ferrey, company president and CEO.The company’s flagship instrument, on the market since 1994, was initially developed to sort chromosomes for the Human Genome Project. Its products are now used for everything from cancer and HIV research to livestock sex selection.
