MINNEAPOLIS-The Minneapolis Club, the elite Downtown private business club, is about halfway through a$12.5 million expansion and renovation project.

Despite hard times for private clubs, the MinneapolisClub has been growing by recruiting more womenmembers, hosting seminars and offering education andnon-profit groups opportunities to meet with thebusiness community, say club officials.

The project,which includes a five-story expansion between the clubon 8th Street and 2nd Avenue and its nearby parkingramp, will add a business center, meeting rooms andrenovate the men’s and women’s locker rooms. It isexpected to be complete by the end of next year. The107-year-old club has been at its present locationsince 1908.
