DENVER-As Election Day 2000 unfolds, the Colorado Commerce and Industry will be making its final lob to defeat Amendment 24, a Constitutional change that seeks to control growth.

The statewide chamber of commerce group represents the most powerful business lobby in Colorado. The organization claims Amendment 24 is too rigid.

CACI has offered its own “Colorado Millennium Blueprint” for better growth planning. That plan calls for comprehensive planning for cities and counties with populations above 10,000, where plans are strictly enforced. It also calls for creating urban service areas, regional dispute resolution, open space preservation, tax reform policies to mitigate tax policy-motivated growth and providing incentives to developers and employers to encourage more affordable housing.
