EVERETT, WA-Port of Everett officials are in discussions with an undisclosed warehouse company that has expressed interest in 300,000 sf of space in the 78-acre Riverside Industrial Park currently being developed by the Port.

Bob Mcchesney, director of properties and development for the Port of Everett, wouldn’t comment further on the warehouse company, which is expected to be the anchor tenant of the park if an agreement is reached. But he did note that the warehouse company is one of several tenants that have expressed interest in the industrial park.

The Riverside Industrial Park, located on East Marine View Dr, adjacent to SR 529, has been in the planning and development stages since the Port purchased the site from Weyerhaeuser Co. for $11.7 million in March 1998. Mcchesney says the Port’s plan for the land is to build all of the necessary infrastructure needed and then offer long-term ground leases to tenants, who would be responsible for constructing their own buildings. He says it is too soon to discuss what lease rates the Port will charge for the property.

Under the Port’s master plan for the park, 1.3 million sf of land has been aside for building space. Though the infrastructure for the park isn’t expected to be completed until April 2001, Mcchesney says construction could begin sooner in some parts of the industrial park.
