NEW YORK CITY-Cushman & Wakefield has been retained to manage Metropolitan Life Insurance Company’s building services in 19 of its corporate facilities. C&W will take over management as of Jan. 2, 2001.

The New York-based real estate services firm has signed a multi-year agreement to oversee facility management, utility and mechanical support and building services purchasing. The MetLife sites are scattered throughout the country.

“After detailed analysis, we have determined that maximum operating efficiency would be achieved by hiring a professional firm to manage certain services,” says Mike Viggiano, MetLife vice president for facilities and services in an announcement. “Although building services functions are crucial to MetLife, they are not among our core businesses.
